Do you ever have times when people just pop into your head...a far away friend, a family member, someone you briefly met in a new place? This happens to me kinda often. I'm not sure why it happens...but when it does, I think it's a prompt to pray for whoever has been brought into my thoughts. If you're reading this, and I know you...it's pretty safe to assume you've been dropped into my thoughts and then placed in my prayers.
You are all probably wondering about the photo in this post. Well, this is the person that has been popping into my thoughts a lot lately.
This is Edgar.
When I was in Vancouver, B.C. last summer with Ma & Poppie I met Edgar as we were walking back toward our hotel from the east end of Gastown. I was of course taking photographs of something or other...quite possibly the side of a building--but that is for another post.
As I turned away from whatever I was capturing to catch up with my parents, Edgar asked if I'd like to take his photograph. Of course, I said I would love to. I chat with Edgar for a few minutes...and yes, I do think Poppie was a little freaked that I was choosing to talk to this man whose home was the very streets on which we were traversing.
Edgar said he was safe and happy, and I let Edgar know that he would be in my prayers. At that comment, Edgar smiled from ear to ear and shook my hand profusely. I let him know I really meant it and he wished us a good evening.
I have prayed for Edgar-often. He was living in an area with a number of shelters and a Union Gospel Mission too. He was so friendly...and eager for a conversation. I pray that he is safe, warm and that if he hasn't already...that he meets Jesus.
Do you have these moments...when folks who are in or passed through your life just drift into your mind? What, if anything, do you do when it happens??
